Presents an evaluation of alternative approaches for establishing public school level of service standards, as it pertains to Florida. The new statutory requirements for school concurrency constitute a fundamental change to public school facilities planning by mandating the adoption of a public school facilities element as a component of the local government comprehensive plan, as well as the inclusion of public school facilities as one of the facilities subject to the concurrency requirement. Over the past decade, the Florida Legislature has progressively strengthened the ties between school planning and land use and comprehensive planning.
