Presents life cycle cost analyses of school building floors with light-to-medium traffic and heavy traffic, comparing them with the figures for carpet and vinyl composition tile (VCT). The initial purchase cost, installation charges, maintenance requirements and associated costs, plus the costs of cleaning chemicals are factored into the analysis to yield the true outlay of monies over time. The analysis envisions a twenty-two (22) year time period, which is the expected usable life of VCT flooring in schools.
