This paper presents findings of a study that examined the relationship between student achievement/behavior and school-building condition. A survey sent to all high schools in North Dakota elicited a 60 percent response rate. The Comprehensive Test of Basic Skills was used as a measure of student achievement and the numbers of disciplinary incidents as an indicator of student behavior. Findings indicate that a positive relationship existed between student achievement and building condition and between student behavior and school condition. Study results were compared with other studies that used similar methodologies with different populations.
