Reports the results of a pilot project that evaluated specific sustainable building strategies in five Washington school districts. The study provided an opportunity to review detailed cost and benefit information associated with a range of building strategies in a variety of school applications. The many recommendations for cost-saving strategies are organized according to those that provide cost and/or other significant benefits; those that provide significant indoor environment and/or other benefits, but may add first cost; those that can be effective, but are highly project and/or location specific; and those that may be problematic for the state of Washington. Detailed selection and study criteria, results data, and evaluations are included in the appendices.
